I made a goal this year to take one at least one picture every day. So far (as of May 21st), I’ve yet to miss a day. (Though the picture for May 2nd is a loaf of bread at 10:15pm. Still counts!) Last night, as I was looking back through the year so-far I noticed that the pictures that most resonated with me were in black and white.
I think that’s because in the absence of color, only the story remains. And when we’re taking pictures of our family or our wedding day, it’s really the story that matters most.
In the absence of color, only the story remains.
Whether you’re booking me for a wedding, portraits, or for your family, you’ll receive both a color & monochrome version of each image.
With each client gallery I create, there are usually a handful of photos that, seemingly average in color, catch my breath when I convert the file to black and white.
And while it is rare that I see a client post or feature a monochrome variation of one of their images, I think it is incredibly valuable to see each photograph stripped down to nothing but the story. When we remove the glowing sunsets, the beautiful bouquets, and the coordinated outfits, we’re left with the joy.
And I think that’s pretty cool.
