About the Name

When I was younger and cooler, I hiked across Pennsylvania on the Mid-State Trail with a dear friend. A photograph of our packs resting in front of an adirondack shelter sits on my desk and serves as a reminder of a brief, beautiful adventure, and also of how photographs have the power to transport us back into these meaningful spaces, even if only for a moment.

And some days, that’s pretty darn handy.

About the Business

My wife and I have both committed our lives to careers that focus on serving others. For better or worse, choices like this are typically at odds with lucrative salaries. As such, when we were planning our wedding, we quickly felt overwhelmed by the steep costs of most aspects of the wedding industry.

The few photographers who offered an affordable price point often did so as part of a “basic” package that limited the number of hours we could have our photographer or the number of photographs we could access.

Everyone should be able to afford lasting, beautiful images of their most precious memories. So I resolved to set up a business that could provide quality, full-service photography at prices that are within reach.

Every service I provide comes with a flat-rate cost. Prior to your session, you and I will set up expectations for the timeframe and services so that you can ensure that you’re getting exactly what you want out of our time together.

About the Me

I spent the first decade of my career teaching graphic design, English, and photography to high school students.

In my 15 years as a photographer, I have photographed weddings, families, birthday parties, mountains, portraits, the night sky, and most of all, my patient wife, who endures me saying “hang on, honey. Let me just get one more picture” more than any wife ought to have to bear.

We live in southeastern Minnesota with our two sons (1 and 4), who are both exceedingly talented at derailing our attempts to find peace. We love them nonetheless.

One quirk of being a photographer is that you end up with thousands of pictures of other people, and very few of yourself. This is my wife, Regina, with our son, Micah.

To get a sense of how I look, here are some reference images. Just kidding. That’s me below.
